The Workbench provides a number of different options for csv format data export.

Export Options

The csv export options are available from the Fragments tab in the All Signifiers module in the Workbench. The options are broken into 4 groups:

  • Fragment Export Options
  • CSV Data Options
  • Titles or IDs
  • Include Zones in CSV Export

And below these groups, the export action button to submit the export request.

Fragment Export Options

Full dataset

All fragments in the capture are exported.

Filtered dataset

Only those fragments that have been filtered in the Workbench filter options are included.

NOTE: Filtering properties are set in the Filters and Brush Options menu at the top of the screen.

The "Left menu / word cloud effect:" filtering options control the oleft menu filter options. In order for a left menu action to be counted as a filter, the left menu options must be set to either "Filter Only" or "Both". If the option is set to "List", then left menu actions do not filter the data, but place the data selected by the action on the fragment list in the Fragments tab.

Likewise with the "Brush/click effect:" options. These must be set to "Filter Only" or "Both" in order for the brushed data to be considered filterd.

On fragment display

Fragments on display in the Fragments tab are exported when this option is selected.

The data in this list might not have been filtered but added to the list with the left menu or brush options set to "List". This is especially useful if the "Accumulate Fragments on List" option is clicked in the Filters and Brush Options menu. This enables multiple brushes that will accumulate fragments based on each brush.

Export Content

The first two columns of every export are:

  • FragmentID - the unique identifier of the individual signified fragment, generated from the SenseMaker® platform.
  • NarrID - a generated unique simple integer number, starting from 1, incrementing for each signifier to the total fragment count, and regenerated on each export run.

The remaining columns that can be included in an export (which columns appear depends on the content variation options selected as described below) are:

  1. CSV Export Columns

These include:
